« on: March 18, 2008, 07:05:07 AM »
All of a sudden this morning it is giving a database version error.  We have been at 1.1.4 for several months, its telling us the database is at 1.1.2 this morning.

Thanks

Thanks for this recognition of service! ;)

By the way, I just wanted to mention here that for any of you race fans out there (not just Nascar, but auto racing in general), NascarLite is quite a popular board:

This is happening on our board as well.  Has been doing this since last night.  Also, it is hit or miss on whether people can even look at a board or topic.  I have emailed, pm'ed and opened a trouble ticket.

Please help!

Sorry if someone gets upset and deletes this, but I will keep my post 100% factual with NO opinions involved.

Friday 3/21 opened ticket, sent PM's and emails.
Responded to Sunday 3/23 as problem not duplicated, I also asked for a database back-up and was told it would happen in my trouble ticket as well as in the open forum here (search my other posts).
I respond with exactly what it is doing and still to this day 3/25 the problem is still there with no activity on the board from BN admin since 3/23, even though yesterday morning (3/24) I stated the problem was still there.
Other problems that have started:  Post counts not going up, home page not updating as we post.  Threads randomly update (no rhyme or reason), no moderation available (can't delete threads, posts, etc.) and the list goes on.
I was asked in the trouble ticket if we were wanting my database back up so we could switch to Vbulletin, I answered yes.  This is because of the poor support I get from SMF as well as a search engine that does NOT work and no one has been able to make it work.

Also I was asked if we were switching hosts.  I answered yes, due to the service we have had.  We are switching hosts EVEN THOUGH we have paid our bill with Board Nation into May.  Now since we have already paid $130+ for the quarter, we should get taken care of until our time here runs out, but that is NOT the case.

In 8 months I have grown to over 600 members averaging over 550 posts per day and they rely upon a working board to get information about their vehicles.  If you go to my board right now, there are threads that appear to not have been posted in for days, BUT THEY HAVE.  I understand problems happen and uptime CANNOT be 100%, but the time has come to go to a more reliable source for our traffic.

So I hope that you continue for the rest of your members, the level of service that was provided for USPatriot that started this thread because we haven't gotten it with the exception of when we were getting hacked in October.  You did a WONDERFUL job then...what happened?

Simple Machines has great support; we have never had problems getting a response from them.  And let me state the facts for the record: Their search engine does work.  For any of you considering forum software, be it SMF, Invision PowerBoard, vBulletin, or whatever, I suggest that you take a look at http://www.forummatrix.org/compare/SMF+vBulletin.  It allows you to easily compare forum software features head to head. That link lines up SMF with vBulletin.

We have finished exporting all of your board data for you so you can now complete the switch to your new host.  To make things right, we are refunding the money you have paid in advance to us for hosting fees.

Rest assured, we will continue to strive to meet our customers expectations of great service!  And so in your case, what happened?  How can I put this.  Back in October, we were working with another one of your Admins (Nathan).  Somehow it always just seems that the customers who sport a good attitude always seem to naturally get the best customer service.  And actually I believe this to be true of life in general ;)
