Sluggish boards
« on: February 25, 2008, 04:47:37 PM »
Greetings,

Earlier today, about 2 hours ago, I FINALLY saw first hand the "sluggish board" problem that has been reported on certain message boards.  I happened to be visiting one of my own personal boards when the slow down became very apparent.

We are working this problem as priority #1.  Thanks for your patience!

Running an automated script requesting 1000's of board search requests / second will eat up server resources and slow down / stop forums
I dont know if this is the cause of the slow down here ?

Actually we have narrowed it down: the problem seems to be related to fine tuning some of the default parameters of our system software.  So we're making adjustments this week.

OK,

I am very happy to report that we have made changes that should prevent the "sluggish board syndrome" that has been plaguing several of our customers for awhile now !

Mine is still very sluggish indeed at times and seems somewhat sluggish all the time - reported by several board members not just be sadly.

Do not despair - we are making more changes and upgrades that will help your boards performance.  We are doing this work in phases.

Please note: We will need to reboot one of our primary servers at 10:00PM Pacific Time tonight (Monday, March 3rd) for some of these changes to take effect.  This will affect certain Flagship and Free (Ad) message boards.  The outage will be approximately 10 minutes.

I was curious and took a look at the scottishchristians forum and was bombarded with 22 requests to accept cookies from www.lots-of-anime.com !!!!!

In your forum template you have your body background image and bookmark icon pointing to files on that site and this is causing the cookie flood :o
