Boardnation is depriving people their right of expression granted by the United States Constitution. I do not have porn  on my board but i feel for those who have been banned for having such or other violations of the so called "TOS" ESPECIALLY if they pay for boardnation services. I personally do not think its anyones (from Boardnation)business  to care whats in members boards especially Flagship boards. It feels like NAZI type adminstration in here and that not gonna fly. This place is run like a personal small home business, what  the Boarnation Board feels like having or implementing is what everyone has to deal with or put up with here. Bad attitude and approach to business.( just my thought process). Its amazing how theres so much dictation in this place. Unfortunately  i have a busy and large board that my membes have gotten used to and moving to another service would be a big deal. I would move without a second thought if i could move all my data. i personally do not feel there is justice and understanding in this organization.
If you guys go by Federal laws and state and city  ordinances etc. or whatever  ..what of those who live outside the United States and who do not pledge allegiance to the American Flag? Come on people get serious! There are many services out there that do not make their maembers put up with such.

i did not say i condon porn at all tahts why i do not have it my board becaus ei have mature members, its just the policies and regulation that are in place. ANd BTW you have not the littliest right to tell me where to go.

It is a service we provide and just like other hosts we can decide what content we do and do not allow.  Many hosts do not allow adult material.  We are also bound by the terms of service of our data center who is bound by the terms of service of their upstream providers.

The server is bound by the laws of the country it is actually in. If someon found illegal data on a server in the US then the server owner is still punishable even if it was someone from Brazil put it there. Plus if you are from another country (like me) and you decide to do business with someone from another country you should expect that you have to stick to those laws.

While there are many services that don't care what you have, many, many more do, especially major companies, it tends to be the small backyard businesses that allow anything and they can disappear at any moment.

A major reason for businesses having these policies is because there are many individuals who simply wouldn't do business with companies that allowed seedier material. A family environment is often called for in the business world. Sticking to these policies means BN gets business from both the people who don't want seedy material and all those who simply don't care. They only miss out from the people who demand porn, a very, very small minority compared to those opposite.

Probably depends.. There are a couple members on this forum that have avatars like that.. and they haven't been removed. But THEILLEST had a avatar with a rapper holding up his middle finger for the camera. And it seems like that was removed (if i remember correctly). So this is a question for Dave or Joshua.

Also, I like to draw your attention to CIPA.  It allows places (including libraries and I work in a public one so I know this) to censor what a computer has access to on the net.  Therefore, CIPA allows BN to not allow porn on forums because children can have access to the forums and CIPA protects children from seeing such things.  I'm a strong supporter of CIPA and also a strong supporter of our rights (a reason why I say the Patriot Act is trash and needs to no longer be law).  If people have problems with BN's no porn TOS then read up on actual internet laws or write your congressperson to get the stuff changed.

Only thing about that article is, at least in my library, we won't (or perhaps cannot) disable the filter if asked by an adult.  Come to think of it someone, but not me, should talk to the director about that.  Oh well...
