Difference in Global and normal Moderator
« on: August 12, 2002, 05:46:33 AM »
This may sound like a silly question i should already know, but whats the difference between a Global Moderator and just a Moderator. What extra things can a Global Moderator do that just a Moderator cannot?

A moderator only moderates the boards it is set too, a global moderator can moderate all the boards on your site.

Simple as that!  :)

A global moderator can also see every board even if you set the catagory to administrators only.

Ok, i want to add some moderators to my board. I have selected the members and gone to their profile to change them to one, but when i click on the drop down list, the only one's for me to choose are admin, gloal mod, and a custom one. How do i make them just mods and assign them to their categories.

how can we assign mod from global mods? mods are not part in the choices of having global mods... only global mods and admins... how about the mods

You must assign them on a board by board basis.  See the admin howto board for a guide.

-lol-

I made a extra usergroup called "moderator". I have set it so that they can see the admin forum. Of course there is no dynamic functions of it, like colors or anything...

I have different ranks for my moderators (custom member groups, just check out my forum at http://w40k.blee.biz/forum.html to see what I mean) and normal mods are assigned to specific areas and global mods (or gmods for short) get to moderate every area.  I find that varying ranks for mods works well, but it does require creating custom member groups and you still have to assign them to an area like normal.

i am totally lost on this one. My Global moderators  cannot be able to access a category that i specifically creted for a custom group even though i have listed them as moderators/global moderators  in the group. As from the discussions above with creating another group for moderators i will not be able to keep them as global moderators if i move them to another group since Global moderator is considered a group. Can someone please  tell me how i can fix this ..its buggin me.

Your categoey permissions look correct to me.  One thing is a membergroup named "Moderator" has seemed to cause problems.  I have removed that membergroup since it had no members in it anyway.  Feel free to open a support ticket with further details and I can try to correct any problems you still have.
